Environmental Monitoring Capabilities

Real-time monitoring for select chemicals

Using our own UV-Based Monitors, we can provide fast results for compounds such as: Benzene, Toluene, Xylene, Styrene, 1,3-Butadiene, CS2, SO2, NH3, NO, and Mercury. We have portable systems that allow for monitoring at multiple locations, and we have long-path configurations that allow for perimeter or fence-line monitoring applications.

 

Long Term Sampling

In addition to the EPA canister methods, we can provide longer-term monitoring using different sampling technology. The analytical procedures used are the same or similar to that used for the stainless steel canisters, but the environmental samplers that we use allow for averaging times from days to weeks.

Additional chemicals

Using standard EPA sampling and analytical methods (TO-14, TO-15), we can provide monitoring services for a host of these toxic volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Our stainless steel canisters can be set for various sampling times which range from “instantaneous” grab samples up to a 24-hour average. Subsequent analyses by certified methods provide low detection limits with results available in a matter of days.

 

Meteorological Measurements

Along with chemical or physical agent profiles, we often find it useful to track meteorological parameters. This added information will often give insight as to the identity of the emission source. We have portable systems that are proven to be rugged and can stand up to elements while logging information from multiple sensors over extended monitoring periods.

Odor Detection

Our customers are sometimes faced with low level emissions that may be lower than published health limit guidelines, but still pose a problem in terms of nuisance. We have experience in using low level hydrogen sulfide monitors in conjunction with our other VOC monitoring technology to respond to community odor complaints.

 

Environmental Noise Monitoring

Our customers sometimes struggle with issue with physical environmental hazards such as noise (unwanted sound). Much like odors, environmental noise may not be at a level that has been shown to cause excessive hearing loss, but noise that disrupts the activity or happiness of human or animal life is also a concern. We can conduct both short-term and long-term environmental noise evaluations to determine.

Particulate Matter (PM-10 and PM-2.5, PM-1.0)

"Particulate matter," also known as PM, is a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets. Particle pollution is made up of a number of components, including acids, organic chemicals, metals, and soil or dust particles. The size of particles is directly linked to their potential for causing health problems. The greatest concern is with particles that are 10 micrometers in diameter or smaller because those are the particles that generally pass through the throat and nose and enter the lungs. Once inhaled, these particles can affect the heart and lungs and cause serious health effects. We offer PM-10 and PM-2.5 sampling and weighing services and can add this component to any environmental sampling plan.
